Evening Picnic at Huntington Gardens

YPG members and friends are invited to enjoy a very special opportunity to stroll the grounds of the Huntington Botanical Gardens after they are closed to the general public. Enjoy live Celtic Spring music and picnic dining on the grounds. The Gardens will feature northern european roses, in celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the Huntington Rose Garden. This is sure to be a fun and relaxing evening and an excellent way to enjoy this breathtaking Los Angeles area landmark.

Date to be determined.

6:00-8:30pm (Meet at 5:45pm in the shade on the grassy area northwest of the entrance. Non Huntington Gardens members need to enter with a member, so please be sure to meet the group on time.)

Cost $5.00

To Know: You may bring your own food and drinks for an evening picnic or you may purchase cuisine inside the Huntington Garden at the Patio Grill (Seared Chicken Breast or Grilled Salmon w/ Pineapple Salsa).

YPG MEET & GREET OPPORTUNITIES

The YPG Meet and Greet is open to all members as well as prospective members. The Meet and Greet is a great opportunity to meet fellow YPG members and learn about YPG's fundraising, social and volunteer activities. Receive a free YPG t-shirt if you join and/or renew your membership at the Meet and Greet!

Prospective members are encouraged to bring their completed membership application (download your application from this web site) with dues payment. Not ready to join, that's okay too. Come and learn about why so many people, just like you, have decided to join YPG. Casual dress is encouraged. There will be a short walking tour so wear comfortable shoes. Refreshments will be available. For more information, contact membership@ypgla.org.

COMPUTER TRAINING PROGRAM (MEMBERS ONLY)

A. SIGN UP TO BE A COMPUTER SKILLS TRAINER (CST). You will instruct the ladies using Microsoft Office 2000 Tutorial Textbooks. The lesson plans will be provided to you ahead of time and you will lead the ladies through a section (i.e. Chapters 1 & 2 of Excel) and then assist them with practice exercises and answer questions. If you want to help but are not comfortable being the designated Trainer then sign up to be a partner with one of our trainers and assist with the class.

Class times: Mondays, 7-9 pm at GSC computer lab.

B. SIGN UP AS AN OPEN LAB COORDINATOR (OLC). Sometimes, the ladies just need the lab to be open for them to check email accounts, look for job postings, and work on resumes. Potential times would be Tuesday or Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings or afternoons depending on volunteer availability. In this program, you will help the ladies in a more casual "come-and-go" environment as opposed to a structured class time. There will be an initial training session but then YPG members may volunteer weekly, monthly, or quarterly as your schedule permits.

FOR MORE INFORMATION OR TO SIGN UP AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THESE COMPUTER LAB OPPORTUNITIES, EMAIL volunteer@ypgla.org.

LOCATION: Hawkes Transitional Residence (Los Angeles)
